Bloomington in August…

Ah…Kilroy’s

No weekend trip to Bloomington would be complete without a stop at Kilroy’s. I don’t know many IU alumni who don’t have at least a few good memories from this place. Even though it has been renovated since my time on campus, it’s still that same color of green on the inside. I had the same college roommate for my first three years of college. After graduation, she attended IU law so she and I still saw each other often while meeting her law school classmates. She planned the weekend for law school girls and I was very touched to be included.

The fountain at Oliver Winery

On the weekend agenda was a trip to Oliver Winery. We took a brief tour of the area where the wine is made and stored. We had lunch there and a sample or two. In one short weekend, I packed in quite a bit. I ate breadsticks from Pizza Express, stromboli from Nick’s, pizza from Mother Bear’s and blarney puff balls from Irish Lion. We found a new local bar to hang out called the Root Cellar and it’s literally a root cellar. The ceilings are exposed, concrete floors, wiring all over the place, small rooms with concrete walls and a scary bathroom, but the drinks were cheap and the music was good. All in all, a good time was had by all.

  1. God; how I miss southern Indiana in the fall. If fact, the last I ran into you Kelly was a Nivember in Bloomington. I was wearing black and gold. You, of course, were in Red and white.
