Netflix and thrill…

Jessica-Jones-Featured

I am a nerd. It’s not something I keep secret, I freely admit it. My inner nerd enjoys watching Arrow and the Flash. After resisting for years, I finally gave in and signed up for Netflix. The first series I binge watched was Jessica Jones. After making my way through Jessica Jones, I continued on to seasons 1 and 2 of Daredevil.

Jessica Jones was intriguing because she isn’t the archetypical hero. She is flawed. She has issues. She has failed, she wasn’t able to live up to the ideals of being a superhero in Marvel’s world. After her failed attempt, she has become a private investigator. Jessica Jones takes on the seedy, difficult cases that no one else wants. The show is dark, in both content and cinematography, but I loved it. I don’t want to reveal too much in case anyone reading this hasn’t watched it and wants to. If you have watched, what did you think?

Daredevil, also a Marvel comic, takes place in Hell’s Kitchen and the plot centers around blind attorney Matt Murdock and his partner Franklin “Foggy” Nelson. While they fight crime during the day in the courtroom, Murdock fights crime by night as Daredevil. I liked season one, but I sometimes was bored by the one villain, Wilson Fisk. After season one, I wasn’t hooked, but season two grabbed my attention. Two new characters were introduced in season two: Frank Castle and Elektra. While Daredevil is the consummate martyr, the Punisher is his foil. The Punisher has the same goal as Daredevil–righting wrongs, they go about it differently. Again, I don’t want to give away too much.

Season two of Daredevil was just as addictive to me as Jessica Jones. Now that I have binge watched both, I am left waiting for the next season of both. Now, I have to hurry up and wait.
